These are a set of utilities which have come in handy from time to
time. It is usually best to copy the program and relevant file to a
blank floppy, perform the operation and then copy the file back to
where it belongs.
Change BIA will globally change a the level designators in the
assessment file to any other character. This allows you to reset a
file for use in another year.
STAT1-2 moves criteria statements down a level so that L1,L2,L3
becomes L2,L3,* and you then do not have to enter as much data for a
group using some of the levels already set up.
STAT 2-1 does the opposite. Note that the criteria block files need to
be present on the disc at the same time as this program. (see note at
the end)
CHTUTCOD will change the tutor designation code eg 2BUR in every
record in an assessment file (2BUR, 2REA etc).
Blocktex converts a block of criteria statements from the program into text
so that criteria booklets can be produced. The text can be dropped straight
into Impression or passed to PCs via !PCDIR.
USERSET allows an assessment file (2BUR etc) to be used to set up a blank user file (2BURUSR etc).
USRNCHAN change a name in a USR file only (unlikely to be needed)
Customised DTP reports - this is rather convoluted and not recommended if you want some spare time! It does however produce individually personalised DTP reports. This will be much easier when Impression gets a mail-merge.
!Fpage is an Impression document which is the report front cover.
LCfile is a modification of the main program which simply produces a file of
tutor group names lower case separated by carriage returns (ASCII13). In
order to do this, replace the !RUNImage file in the Clickx2 application directory with LCfile and rename it!RUNImage. Run the program in the usual way and page through a group. This will generate the desired file. Note the directory paths at the beginning of the program need altering for other year groups
since the data files will not be in the directories 2RA89/90 etc. The files
generated will be ASCII text named LCBUR etc for lowercase Burdon. Each name
is separated by a carriage return (ASCII13).
The file mergef1 is a text file which consists of the appropriate codes to
position the student name and tutor group on the Impression Fpage in
headline style next to name and tutor group. However, the names and tutor
group need to be changed for different files so the program LCnames will do
this automatically. The new file generated will be LCBURM for lower case
Burdon merge. The program reads data from LCBUR etc and mergef1 combining
the two to produce LCBURM. When this file is dropped into an Impression
viewer window it will generate a page per student with the name and tutor
group in the correct position and style. Although files produced are type
"data" they can be treated just like text files in Impression and edit. It
will be quickest to print one copy of Fpage and photocopy 200 copies, put
these in the printer and print the names a page at a time onto these. In
this way the graphics and large fonts will only be printed once considerably
speeding things up. When a complete set is produced, a copy can be made of
